A detailed, illustrated report entitled “Audit, Assessment and Status Report on Government’s Current Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Activities” that details, among others: which departments (national and provincial) and municipalities have implemented, or are implementing, ambient air quality monitoring activities; the nature of these activities; the results of these activities; the type, location, status, and monitoring functionality of any government owned monitoring stations (both static and mobile) (including photographs of the stations); the organizational arrangements for air quality monitoring (staffing, budgets, training, etc.); the cost of the activities (Capital, personnel and operational costs including the costs of external service providers); the potential for feeding data to the South African Air Quality Information System (SAAQIS); and future planned activities to 2010.
