Programme Steering Committee
The Programme Steering Committee (PSC) is responsible for the joint oversight and decision making of the programme. The committee consists of representatives from the ten South African partners and representatives from the Danish Embassy in Pretoria. The South African Cities Network has an observatory status.

The PSC is responsible for the progress of the programme and its mandate includes:

  • Overall management decisions and progress of the Programme
  • Monitors the programme outputs and impact
  • Monitors auditing procedures and results
  • Monitors technical assistance
  • Delegates specific management tasks to the PSC-Secretariat between meetings
  • Considers recommendations for the programme from reviews and other sources.
Specific tasks of the PSC:

  • Considers business plans and budgets submitted by the partners. Focus must be on the alignment with the programme goals.
  • Ensures that the programme is aligned with government's existing UEM priorities.
  • Promotes coordination between programme partners.
  • Monitors the progress of the programme and identifying and addressing delays, problems and bottle necks.
  • Monitors the coherence between the programme and the urban environment sector.
The PSC convenes quarterly, often in February and in May to align with national and provincial, and local government. The PSC makes decisions about business plans and budgets at these meetings. All decisions are made by consensus and the PSC is serviced by the PSC Secretariat.
